8am. I wake up like any other Friday for the past six weeks - it's the day of my now-weekly OB visit, 9 months pregnant. Anna is two weeks overdue at this point, and I've been miserable. Although, for the last three or four days, I'd actually felt SO much better. Almost like myself again.

9am. Appointment time. The nurse calls my name, and I stand up. But, I cannot stand up all the way. I don't hurt, I'm not in any pain, just am physically unable to straighten my back. After a few seconds it passes.

While being weighed, I have a contraction. After checking me, Dr. Chambers sends me up to the hospital to be put on a fetal heart monitor. Turns out I'm in labor!

12 hours later, at 9:16pm, a little dark-headed 9 pound baby girl was born to me. And my life was changed forever.

Anna, this one's for you. Here's to plunging mudholes in the yard, capturing Praying Mantis' in jars for study, collecting rocks for your shoebox, Frisbee games between the car lot in the yard, sitting in the front cars on rollercoasters, monster truck shows, duckie buttkiss jinx, pookies ookies and shuns, one-cent pennies, being squeaky-clean, dinosaurs on playgrounds in dreams, quoting movies together, long road trips to the home of the Ninja, DragonCons past and future, all-night giggle sessions while lying in bed, birthday pizza parties, and every moment good, bad and ugly that has fused out lives together these last 20 years.

I am very proud of you, of the young woman you have become, and the exceptional woman I know you will be. I love you.

Greetings Hobbits and other friends! Did you attend A Long-expected Party last September in Kentucky? Do you wish you had? Do you want to go "There and Back Again"?

Well, here is your chance! The organizers of last year's events are just crazy enough to give it another go! The dates are confirmed, September 28th through October 1st, 2011, Wednesday through Sunday. The website is in progress, so I have no links to give you as of yet.

The official annoucement was made at DragonCon in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday night. Marc Gunn, Celtic musician and past Party guest, was so excited that he immediately Tweeted the news to those that follow his blog.

We hope to see you all there!

For those that do not know, Maddy from Arms of Middle Earth gave me the nickname "Jop" by accident, while trying to type my name on night in a chat. Most people from AOME still call me that to this day.

Well, Maddy used me as a job reference on an application. Guess what she put down for my name?

This is how you know that a nickname will stick with you until the day you die.

Okay, I guess that's about it. Sorry to have rambled, but it has been a LONG time since I made a proper update here.

Scarecrow and Mrs King! yay!

So, with encouragement from a friend, I think I might attempt a Ginny Weasley costume for the Yule Ball this year. I already have the red hair, so that's a plus, lol.

Anyone have Gryffindor robes for sale? And maybe a tie or a wand?

I looked on Ebay, but thought I would give some of my friends a chance at the money first.

Mel is having to have surgery for a respirator. This is bad, heartbreaking. For someone who helped introduce me into Tolkien fandom, she is like a sister, a mother, a best friend all rolled into one. I know most of the people I know because of Mel's wililngness and openess to allow people 'in' and bring them together to become, what is in essence, an extended family. And just like all extended families, there are times when we do not all get along. But we are still family nonetheless. Because of her.

Now, my Mom tells me today that my Dad's cancer 'score' is highly elevated. He said last year he would not go through chemo again. I do not think he has changed his mind, and - just like Mel - it's his decision to make, in terms of what he is willing to put himself through.

But my heart is crying. For both of them. And for myself.

I would not choose. Because if a friend asked me to choose them over the S.O., they would not be a friend. Friends don't do that.

If a significant other asked me to choose them over a friend, they would lose out too. Because someone that loves you should not ask you to do that.

I have told several people just this. "Don't ask me to choose. Because if you ask me to choose, you will lose."

I worry for my friends. A lot. I know that, sometimes, it is more than I should.

But when friends take trips and things like that and then I don't hear from them, I worry that something might have happened to them.

I always ask friends, if I have spoken with them and find out they are going somewhere, to be careful and to let me know somehow that they have made it home or back safely.

Does it sound nosy? I suppose it does. Does it bother people that I do such a thing? Obviously it does, because I have been told so.

Is it going to change how I feel and react to such a thing? Nope.

So if I ask such a thing of you, just humor me?
